As communicated, Russia allowed parallel import of some products and some major brands.
As the next step, Russia announced that importers are free to use the trademarks applied to the products imported parallelly – this shall be considered as no violation.
It is expected that, while only some parallel import is legalized, the parallel import of all goods will increase.
The companies which products are not allowed for parallel import shall take measures to protect their position in the market. It could be advisable to register the trademark in the customs register of intellectual property. If a trademark is in the register and not allowed for parallel import, the customs shall prevent its inflow into the Russian market.
