ELECTRONIC EMPLOYMENT RECORDS – DEADLINE ON OCTOBER 31, 2020

Every Russian employee has a small book where all employment progress (employments, dismissals, promotions, etc.) is recorded – a so called “labor book”.

Starting from January 1, 2021 a labor book may be on paper or in electronic form. Electronic labor books will be maintained by Russian State Pension Fund based on information received from companies. Information from electronic labor books will be available for employers, employees and state authorities.

Before October 31, 2020 every Russian company shall inform its employees about the possibility to have a labor book in electronic form. Within 2020 an employee shall choose if to have the labor book in electronic form or on paper.

A failure to comply with any of the requirements above will entail a fine of 50.000 rubles (approx. EUR 600). Please contact our lawyers and HR-specialists to arrange employment records and reporting in your company.

Starting from 2027 all records on employment will be electronic.
