Russia is going to become the party to the new Convention on the Recognition and Enforcement of Foreign Judgments in Civil or Commercial Matters of 2 July 2019 (the \u201cHague Judgments Convention\u201d).
\nThe convention allows a court judgment on civil or commercial dispute ruled in one country to be enforced in another country.
\nThe convention shall however not apply to family and inheritance law, intellectual property, bankruptcy, antitrust, some administrative and other issues.
\nThe new convention was long awaited by international business and legal communities in Russia, because currently a ruling of, for a example, a German court is almost not possible to enforce in Russia; German business has to apply to Russian courts, follow all Russian formalities and bear additional costs.
\nAfter Russia becomes the party to the convention, Russian and foreign business will clearly understand the perspectives of enforcement of foreign decisions, will be less dependent on controversies of home and foreign law, save time and legal costs.
